Do not wait to register - Registrations begin on May 1st each year.  Throughout the registration process the number of players registered will be monitored.  Team will be limited to 25 total players for this age division.  This process works best if players are registered early in order to help BCO determine the amount of equipment required for this age division.  Once team is full we will have a waiting list.

Player Eligibility - The Varsity division is for ages 11 - 12.  The age cutoff date is August 1st of each year therefore what ever age your child is on August 1st will determine his age for the entire year.  There is no weight restriction for linemen, but all skill positions have a maximum weight of 160 lbs.  Weights will be determined at the official BSYF weigh in scheduled in August of each year.

Coaching - Coaches are always needed!  If you can coach or assist please sign up!  The Varsity team will have one head coach and three assistant coaches.  Our coaches will be required to teach the basic fundamentals of football while promoting teamwork, good sportsmanship and self discipline.  Parents are always encouraged to help with practice.  Please work with your coach to make this a fun and positive experience for your child.  See below for more coaching information and requirements.

Equipment Needs - Each player will be given a helmet and set of pads to use during the season.  These items will be returned back to BCO at the end of the season.  Mouth pieces will be provided.  Your player will also need an integrated set of pants/pads, girdle/pads, practice jersey and cleats for participation.

Practice & Game Schedule - You can expect your player to be the practice field about 3 times a week for practices.  Practice times will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, Tuesday & Thursday.  Please note that some practices may be rescheduled due to inclement weather.  Games will be on Saturdays through out the season.  There are no set game time as BSYF determines the schedule.  Schedules will be releases and can be found on the BSYF website.

Seasons - Practices will start at the beginning of July.  The practice Jamboree is set for mid August.  Games will begin around Labor day weekend and run through mid November depending on playoffs.

BCO Field & Facility Rules - Please make sure to review the BCO field rules posted at the fields. Just as a reminder: NO SMOKING at the facility, pets are never allowed, parking inside the gates at the lower fields is not allowed (over flow parking is available at the lot behind field 2) and profanity and/or arguments will not be tolerated at any practices or games.  If the fields are listed as "CLOSED" or an event has been canceled due to weather then no one is permitted to use the BCO fields for any reason whether you are individuals, teams or members.  Field condition updates and notifications will sent via text (coaches only), Facebook and the Boger City Optimist website.  Coaches, please pick up all trash from dugouts after each practice and game.  Also, please rake the divots at home plate, the pitching mound and each base before leaving.  Please respect all fields, equipment and facilities.

Coaching Volunteers - Teams would not exist if it wasn't for volunteers stepping up to coach.  Our goal is to have the best possible coaches for teams so BCO will try to accommodate schedules to do this.  All those hoping to coach must complete the coaches application each season through the registration system.  A background check must be completed for all coaches, they are good for 2 years so returning coaches can just verify they are still valid.  The directions to complete this can be found on "Documents Tab" then to "Coaches Background Check."  Notify the League President once all requirements are complete!

Sponsorship - We just added a new tab on this website for anyone interested in sponsoring our league and teams. These funds go directly to benefiting our players and to keep the league fees as low as possible.  Please support our sponsors and direct any potential sponsors to our website or BCO board member.

Participation & Volunteering - This league is run by volunteers.  No coach, assistant coach or board member is paid for their time.  If you have a talent that does not include throwing or catching a football or even a like for the sport there still might be a way for you to help volunteer your time to the league and/or team.  If you want to see change then be a part of the change!  Boger City Optimist encourages everyone to get involved in their players league to make it better!
